Fashion Photoshoot: Yi's Lookbook
I stumbled across a fashion inquiry on Art Center Facebook page, looking for a fashion photographer. I haven't photographed fashion since I graduated from Art Center and was looking for a fashion gig because I've been getting mostly product inquiries. I do wish I get mix of both every month but I guess I need to shoot more fashion and submit to a magazine.
Anyways, I reached out to him and got the gig! The style is not what I usually shoot but what's on trend these days; minimal, light, and pastel colors. It was a good opportunity for me because most of my photos are bold, graphic lighting and mostly shot indoor. It is a good way to branch my work outside of my comfort zone and improve using natural lighting.
I did a location scouting two days before the shoot to see possible locations that matched the mood of the shoot. Although his mood board shows more of a studio than outdoor, he wanted outdoor street style look. So I went to Eagle Rock, Pasadena, Highland Park area to see nice colorful and minimal location.
So these are the places I looked and know from the back of my head because I use to pass by these places.
First Location: Art Center South Campus
Second Location: Highland Park Bridge
Third Location: Pink House
I don't usually do street wear but I think it was a fun experience. I enjoyed trying to incorporate the surrounding and placing the model in a minimal environment. I think this shoot could be improved if we had the right model, stylist, and a prop for the shoot. However, this is what we could do with the budget and last minute photoshoot. I did enjoy new photo style I got to try out and play around. I do wish I get to do more and creative!
